Where to stay in Wellington, Wellington hotels

The Intercontinental Hotel

The Intercontinental Hotel is right in the center of Wellington city. Just up the road from the waterfront and right in the middle of the great shopping area and with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby if you feel like trying something else other than the hotel’s Chameleon restaurant. Chameleon is open from 6am to 10pm. This place does an amazing high tea by the way!

With a 3pm check-in and a generous check-out time of 11am. You can still ask for an even later check-out if needed while you head out and do some last minute shopping for souvenirs.

Wi-fi is available in all rooms. The hotel offers standard and executive rooms as well as suites. There is plenty of car parking if you feel like hiring a car. Most of the staff speak a number of languages including Spanish, German, Chinese and English.

Room rates start at around $200NZ for a king standard room for 2 adults.

Naumi Hotel

Filled with eclectic spaces, the Naumi hotel is right in the heart of one of Wellington’s most famous streets, Cuba Street (where the Bucket Fountain is). Naumi has been recently renovated and has 116 rooms. There is no restaurant here but there are plans for Lola Rouge in 2021.

Not having a restaurant is no biggie though I don’t think as Cuba Street is filled with all sorts of great cafes and restaurants including the famous Logan Browns and Fidels Cafe. Besides those, there is also great shopping on this street.

If you would like to know more about Cuba Street and Fidels cafe, you can read my other blog post about them here! https://travelwellingtonwithme.com/cuba-street-wellingtons-best-known-street/

Naumi offers 6 different types of rooms from the Zing Twin room to the Executive Suite. There is no restaurant here yet but there are plans to open Lola Rouge in 2021. However there is a cocktail lounge and also a green room called The Parlour when you can sit and relax and enjoy the sun beaming through with a drink in hand.

Rooms start at $117 a night for two people in the Zing Twin room. The rooms have free Wi-Fi and there is a carpark.

Address – 213-223 Cuba Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011

My sister and brother-in-law actually stayed here a few months ago and I went to meet them for dinner there and the food was amazing. They even went to the trouble of making my son a little birthday cake as it was his birthday the day before. The staff were amazing.
